Brad Rosonke, DVM & Cathy Rosonke - Owners

Dr. Rosonke graduated with honors from Kansas State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1994. After graduating, Dr. Rosonke worked at Sea World followed by the Oregon Coast Aquarium where he helped to rehabilitate Keiko, the killer whale dr brad and cathy rosonkefrom the movie Free Willy. Since 1998, Dr. Rosonke has worked exclusively with companion and exotic pets here in the North Scottsdale area. He is a member of the American Animal Hospital Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association, and the Arizona Veterinary Medical Association.

Cathy Rosonke graduated from the University of Utah with a BS in Mass Communication. She has over 20 years of business experience, including 5 years in radio and television and 11 years in the pharmaceutical industry. As Hillside's Hospital Administrator, Cathy manages the advertising/marketing, finance, computer networking, and human resource operations of the Hospital.

Dr. and Cathy Rosonke are both South Dakota natives whose paths crossed here in Phoenix in 1999. They were married in 2001 and set out to combine their passion for animals and talent for business to create a family owned company that would become Hillside Animal Hospital. The Rosonke family includes rescues Angus (Terrier Mix) and Zak (Wolfhound/Lab mix) and West Highland Terrier Alex. They fully understand the power of the human~animal bond, and can relate to pet owners who see their pets as their
"children". It's the understanding of the precious role that pets play in their owner's lives that is the foundation of Hillside Animal Hospital.




Evan Apotheker, DVM

Dr. Evan Apotheker is originally from Connecticut and moved to Scottsdale from Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he spent his first year out of veterinary school completing internship training in emergency medicine and critical care at the prestigious Animal Emergency Center and Specialty Services. 

Dr. Apotheker earned his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Purdue University where he conducted research on heartworm disease and bladder cancer.  A research paper he authored on early detection of avian influenza earned an AAVMC/Hills Public Health Award. He was also very involved with the greyhound rescue and blood donor program and has an enduring love for the breed.

Outside of work, Dr. Apotheker is an outdoor enthusiast and enjoys hiking with his dog, rock climbing and kayaking.  He is also an amateur artist who has been making pottery since high school and is now working at a local art studio.  His pet family currently consists of Alfonso (The Fonz), a cool orange tabby cat, and Sorkin, a Golden and Australian Shepherd mix.
