The Veterinary Technician team member has the responsibility of upholding client satisfaction by providing excellent and compassionate care to client's pets and enhancing client compliance through continuous individualized client education. The Veterinary Technician has a multifaceted role and must be confident in performing his/her responsibilities individually, and must be able to see the implications of his/her role in the bigger picture of client satisfaction and compliance and how that translates into the financial health of the practice. Learning and applying technical information is central to this role, as is the ability to communicate technical information to the client in an easy to understand manner. The Veterinary Technician must be able to collaborate with the Veterinarian and the Client Service Representative in assuring that the client experience runs smoothly. From a client perspective, the Veterinary Technician's goal is to be seen as a partner in their pet's health and a personal resource for information about their pet's medical care. Veterinary Technicians must work well under pressure and be able to maintain a composed demeanor in the presence of clients, even under difficult circumstances. At Hillside Animal Hospital, continuing education is highly valued, and Veterinary Technicians are expected to take the initiative in seeking out opportunities to either learn new skills or sharpen existing skills in order to deliver the most up-to-date and high quality care to our clients.
Veterinary Technicians report directly to the Medical Director, and hold additional responsibilities in supervising and training Veterinary Assistants.
